The State of North Carolina DWI Services requires all agencies providing services for DWI in NC to collect a $100 fee for a DWI assessment.
DWI clients must complete the required number of hours in no less than 30, 60 or 90 days, depending on the recommended number of hours.
NC DHHS DWI Services also requires no less than weekly attendance to complete State DWI requirements.
All clients are generally recommended to complete counseling in a similar amount of time because these guidelines usually have excellent results for participants.
ALCOHOL & DRUG EDUCATION TRAFFIC SCHOOLS:
An alcohol and drug education traffic school (ADETS) is prevention and intervention service which provides an educational program primarily for first offenders convicted of driving while impaired. The program consists of four 4 hour sessions. The Alcohol and Drug Education traffic schools or ADETS curriculum teaches program awareness, facts about mood altering drugs, and provides other education for you. This program is designed to help people regain their revoked driver’s license
Short Term Outpatient Treatment:
Straight Walk Family Services short-term program is a minimum of 5 weeks but less than 9 weeks, typically consisting on 20 – 30 hours depending on the outcome of the assessment. The short term program consists of a Program Orientation and a minimum of 10 2-hour or seven 3-hour group counseling sessions, usually spread out over no less than 30 days. These groups meet on Monday and Wednesday 6:30-8:30 PM or Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:30-9:30 PM. The Saturday morning session meets from 9:00 AM until 12:00 PM. If you are attending the program to meet NC DWI requirements, state law requires that you must complete the required number of hours in no less than 30 days for the short-term program.
Longer Term Outpatient Treatment:
The longer term, or sometimes referred to as Intermediate Level, consists of no less than 9 weeks and no more than 12 weeks of group substance abuse counseling. The 40 hour program consists of a program orientation and a minimum of twenty 2-hour or fourteen 3-hour sessions and an individual closing session, spread out over at least 60 days. These groups meet on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings from 6:30-9:30 PM. The 2 hour groups on Mondays & Wednesdays, 6:30 – 8:30 PM and a Saturday program that meets from 9:30 AM until 12:30PM.
